SAN DIEGO JUNIOR GOLF ASSOCIATION

The SDJGA is a founding pioneer of junior golf. Beginning operation in 1952, the SDJGA is committed to enriching the lives of youth through the great game of golf. It is the goal of the Association to provide an excellent environment on the golf course for the players to learn, grow and compete.

As a member of SDJGA, Craig learned the fundamentals of the game at an early age, and his positive experiences in Junior Golf helped him be the player he is today. Craig was inducted in the SDJGA Hall of Fame in 2001.

For 17 years, Craig hosted the Craig Stadler San Diego Junior Golf Pro-Am raising over $1.6 million dollars for the chapter.

Craig’s parents, Don and Betty Stadler were tireless volunteers in the organization, with his Mom being named to the SDJGA Hall of Fame in 2007. Craig sponsors The Don Stadler Memorial Tournament every year, and the Stadler Family Scholarship Award is given out each year to a deserving student. Betty is still a member of the Associations Board of Directors.

Craig continues to sponsor the John Wirges Memorial tournament which began in 1991. John was a long time friend of the SDJGA and was a publicist at the Naval Training Center in San Diego. He was a dear friend to many juniors, Craig in particular. John passed away in May of 1991.
